Treating Children

As a qualified paediatric nurse, Rebecca understands that children's skin requires specialised care and attention.

At Opalesce, age-appropriate treatments can be provided for patients under 18 years old, to address the skin concerns outlined below.

Skincare For Children & Young People

At our clinic, we understand that skin conditions can significantly impact a young person's confidence and quality of life. We provide expert treatment for children and teenagers under 18 years of age who are dealing with common skin concerns including acne, warts, verrucae, and other skin lesions.

Paediatric Nurse, Rebecca, can  offer advice and treatment plans to help improve skin conditions with gentle, age-appropriate approaches. Young skin requires different considerations than adult skin, and Rebecca can tailor skincare regimes accordingly to ensure both safety and effectiveness.

Skin conditions can significantly impact a young person's confidence and quality of life.

Comprehensive Consultation

Every treatment journey begins with a thorough consultation appointment. During this essential first step, Rebecca will:

  • Carefully examine the skin condition

  • Discuss the young person's medical history and any concerns

  • Explain all available treatment options in clear, understandable terms

  • Discuss a personalised treatment plan based on the individual's specific needs

  • Answer any questions from both the young person and their parent or guardian

  • Not treat during the consultation, allowing time for the young person and their parent or guardian to consider the options

Every treatment journey begins with a thorough consultation appointment.

Skin Concerns Treated

Opalesce offer a range of safe and effective treatments for young patients, including:

  • Acne management: Basic skincare advice, topical treatments including prescription medication, chemical peels suitable for young skin, and / or micro-needling (age 11+)

  • Wart and verrucae removal: Using cryotherapy treatment (age 5+)

  • Skin lesion treatment: Professional assessment and removal of various benign skin growths (age 5+)

A range of safe & effective treatments are available for young people.

Important Consent Requirements

For all patients under 18 years of age, we require written consent from a parent or legal guardian before any treatment can proceed. This ensures that:

  • Parents are fully informed about the proposed treatment

  • All risks and benefits are clearly understood

  • The young person's best interests are prioritised

  • Legal requirements are met

We encourage both young patients and their parents to be actively involved in the decision-making process, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and informed about the treatment plan. If the young person expresses a wish not to proceed with the consultation or any treatment at any point, their choice will superscede that of their parent or guardian.

Young patients and their parent or guardian are encouraged to be actively involved in the decision making process.
